ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The USF Development Office builds relationships, generates interest, and inspires confidence among the university's constituents to attract private funding. Private gifts are used to advance teaching, research creative expression, and promote community engagement. The Development Office is the fundraising unit of the USF Foundation Inc. and the Division of University Advancement with 60+ fundraisers expected to raise $150+ million dollars annually.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Director of Development will be responsible for establishing and managing prospects and donor relationships through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship processes to meet fundraising goals in alignment with the mission and aspirations of the Judy Genshaft Honors College and the USF Libraries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising:
Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit prospects to close gifts of $25,000+ for top funding priorities.
Maintain a significant prospect portfolio and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face and virtual visits to bring solicitations to closure.
Assist the Deans of the Judy Genshaft Honors College and the USF Libraries to develop fundraising priorities and solicitation strategies for high-level prospects.

Collaboration:
Intentionally build and invest in developing strong relationships with the administration and faculty of the Judy Genshaft Honors College (90%) and USF Libraries (10%).
Develop strong relationships with Advancement leadership, staff, and departments to leverage the tools and resources available to ensure prospects and donors have a meaningful experience with USF.
Collaborate with gift officers in other units and on regional campuses, as appropriate.

Administration:
Prepares and manages the development annual budget.
Leads and directs the College's fundraising communications and manages stewardship and gift acknowledgment activities.
Oversee the Advancement Administrator position at the Judy Genshaft Honors College.

Professional Development
Constantly seek an up-to-date understanding of initiatives and programs (product knowledge) at the University of South Florida.
Stay abreast of industry trends to integrate best practices into daily work.
Collaborate with leaders and colleagues at USF to create an environment that fosters continuous learning.

Perform related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions related to this position.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience related to development or other appropriate professional experience.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.

PREFERRED:

Prefer experience working in a fundraising, advancement, or higher education environment.

SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:

Experience and skill in successfully cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts for higher education institutions, nonprofit entities, or in a sales role.
Experience using fundraising management systems and technology (e.g., Ellucian Advance) to enter and report donor contact activities.
