The role will directly enable data and digital capability needs of US Commercial. The ideal candidate is a leader in digital product management with strong business acumen and have evidence of leading initiatives delivering business value. They will lead and mentor a team of data scientists, data engineer and software developers to build new and innovative digital products and analytics solutions. The role will involve frequent interaction with key stakeholders across sales, marketing and Zoetis tech and digital organizations.
To be successful, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a thirst for knowledge and a natural curiosity to enable rapid learning of the Zoetis business model and data & analytics infrastructure at a scale to support a growing business. The position requires a candidate who is comfortable translating and connecting the business context to the technical and analytical design & execution. The successful candidate will be passionate about solving the most critical business problems through data science and advanced analytics and must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, with strong independent problem-solving skills, able to lead technical teams, and be comfortable in an environment of changing priorities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Be a recognized expert and provide thought leadership in a specialist field within data science and advanced analytics, and in their underlying technology infrastructure and tools, e.g. Data Science, Data Engineering. Analytics Software Development, etc.
Provide guidance and mentorship, as well as manage the career development of junior technical specialists of their field
Initiate and propagate best practices for technical development and engineering in their specialist field across different digital products within the Data and Digital Solutions Org
Serve as technical experts in their specialist fields for relevant applications within Data and Digital Solutions and Zoetis
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry work experience providing digital and advanced analytics solutions in commercial settings
Advanced degree from an accredited college/university in a field linked to business analytics, statistics, operations research, applied mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related fields
Strong record of professional accomplishment and leadership
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage data science, data engineering and software development teams
Strong analytical mind and business acumen; ability to translate mathematical models and results into business concepts and vice versa
Demonstrated experience in identifying commercial priorities and then architecting, building and deploying data science models to create business value, preferably in sales and marketing applications
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with and effectively communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
Excellent project management and time management skills
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Experience in building predictive models in Python (Pandas/PySpark preferred)
Experience in large-scale/distributed computing and analytics (Spark)
Experience in software development and product management
Strong statistics acumen including design of experiments
Knowledge of SQL
Experience with source control and collaboration tools (e.g. Git and Github Enterprise)
Experience in data engineering a plus
Software development / engineering experience a plus
Experience in scaled model testing, integration, and deployment (DevOps) a plus
Experience working in Microsoft tech stack including SQL Server and Azure preferred
Experience working with Azure Databricks and Data Factory a plus
