Job Description:

Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Human Genetics in the Biological Sciences Division seeks faculty candidates. Rank and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications.

The Department has broad research interests and existing strengths in the genetics of complex traits and common diseases, statistical and population genetics, and functional genomics of human disease. In this search, we seek scientists that would strengthen and complement our current research in computational biology, statistical genetics, or population genetics. We especially welcome applications from candidates who develop and apply probabilistic machine learning tools to understand topics related to complex diseases, such as gene regulation, gene regulatory networks, and the interplay of genetic and non-genetic factors. Competitive start-up funds and generous research space, including access to state-of-the-art core facilities, will be available, as well as graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within the biological and physical sciences.

The University is a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation. The Biological Sciences Division, Physical Sciences Division, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. This structure facilitates opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration, notably in the context of two newly launched programs in Computational Biology and (Epi)genomic Networks[CO1] , as well as for interactions with our affiliates, Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent. To be considered, those interested must apply through the University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/149891

Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography, cover letter, contact information for 3 references, a research statement, and a teaching statement (which may also include the candidate's experience in teaching diverse students). The research statement should summarize past research accomplishments and future research plans.

Review of complete applications will continue until the positions are filled.
