Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

This work unit of the Office of Medical Education administers simulated clinical learning experiences and assessments to students within the School of Medicine and to any other UNC school or department seeking opportunities for learners to develop, apply, and test their skills through practical application. We utilize various technology driven simulators, standardized patients, and human patient simulation to assess and teach the necessary clinical skills to upcoming medical doctors. The Center also provides services to the UNC Health Care System, other health affairs professional schools, and regional health education entities.


Position Summary:

The work that is associated with this position involves assisting the Clinical Skills & Patient Simulation Center (CSPSC) in meeting its obligations to all learners. This includes both teaching and assessment for health professional learners and working with outside contracts and grants for related services.
The administrative support specialist will provide support in the daily operations of CSPSC, which includes coordinating and administering simulated clinical skills exams, providing fidelity simulations support, and performing community outreach tours.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.


Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills. Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and attention to detail. Effective problem-solving capabilities, the ability to work independently, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for success in this position. Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in addition to familiarity with assessment software such as LMS.


Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Administrative experience in a higher education setting.
Experience with LMS and/or assessment software.
Experience in healthcare simulation.
Experience and knowledge in CAE LearningSpace or B-Line Medical software.


Special Physical/Mental Requirements :

Ability to move up to 35lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
