Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics (Computational Mathematics)
The Mathematics Department at William & Mary allows students to design a majorbased on their own interests and career goals and prepares students for postbaccalaureateemployment and for further study of mathematical sciences andrelated disciplines. There are four concentrations within the major: StandardConcentration; Applied Mathematics Concentration; Statistics Concentration; andPre-College Mathematics Teaching Concentration. Study options include applied andpure mathematics, operations research, and statistics. Students may also pursue amathematics minor; and design elective programs needed for careers in actuarialscience and industrial mathematics, for interdisciplinary work in fields such asphysical sciences, biological sciences, computer science, data science, economics,business, and social sciences, or for graduate studies.
The Department of Mathematics at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a 3 year, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics instructional position that will begin August 10, 2025. This full-time teaching faculty appointment carries a service component commensurate with rank and comes with the possibility of ongoing renewals and a framework for promotion.
We seek an individual with expertise in computational mathematics to teach in the Department of Mathematics and in the Computational & Applied Mathematics & Statistics (CAMS) Program. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher of mathematics, with the ability to develop and teach computational and interdisciplinary courses at the 1xx-2xx levels as well as a senior-level numerical analysis sequence. This position has a 3-3 teaching load.
A Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field is required
A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field or ABD is preferred at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2025). Previous teaching experience in computational mathematics, participation in interdisciplinary collaboration, and experience with student project mentorship is preferred.
