Job Summary:Coordinate clinical education by maintaining relationships with clinical facilities, fire departments and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) agencies etc. Pursue new clinical agreements to ensure effective student clinical experiences; organize training and development of clinical faculty/preceptors, as well as conduct regularly scheduled clinical visits to all clinical facilities during each semester; conduct and report clinical site evaluations; develop and maintain clinical rotation schedules.
Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Follow the standards and guidelines for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (EMSP) as set forth by the Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP), the Committee on Accreditation for Emergency Medical Services Programs (CoAEMSP) and the Texas Department of State Health Services-EMS Division. Work with the Program Coordinator and faculty members to ensure all the requirements are being met.
May teach assigned courses in accordance with the course syllabus and college policy. Teaching assignments may be on site, skills lab, offsite locations in clinical or online which may include evening and weekend classes.
Seek ways to improve instruction; maintain familiarity with current texts, materials, teaching aids, and techniques relative to courses within the discipline and recommend their adoption or collection when appropriate. Provide advice and/or assistance to associate faculty about course content standards and instructional materials; and work with the Library staff in the selection of print and non-print materials in the overall collection development of EMSP library holdings.
Assist the Program Director/Coordinator in gathering data and completion of the annual report and self-study for the Commission on Accreditation for Emergency Medical Services Programs (CoAEMSP) and/or the Texas Department of State Health Services-EMS Division

Visits clinical sites, fire departments and EMS agencies on a regularly scheduled basis to ensure uniform and consistent practice within accreditation guidelines.
Ensure that records of student clinical performance, attendance, and other records pertaining to clinical education are maintained for each student and that minimum competencies for each student are being met for the assigned clinical rotations; manage the FISDAP system to maintain records of student grades in clinical courses.
Responsible for preceptor orientation, communication and evaluation.
Responsible for student compliance with clinical readiness including background checks, immunization records, drug screening and other requirements for clinical readiness. Maintain current student/faculty clinical readiness requirements with our contracted vendor.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Requirements
Associate degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years of demonstrated experience in healthcare.
Licenses and Certifications
Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic License required.
Texas DSHS EMS Instructor/Coordinator certification required OR must be able to obtain this certification within one (1) year from date of hire.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Provider certification is required.
