Job Description Summary

The Department of Natural and Applied Sciences at Bentley University invites applications for an Assistant/Associate faculty position, to begin July 1, 2025, in the area of Health Innovation. For this position, we define Health Innovation broadly to include topic areas such as biotechnology, diagnostics, digital health, health analytics, artificial intelligence, and bioinformatics, as they apply to US or global health. We especially encourage candidates with both a strong scientific background and industry experience, whose approach to research and teaching health innovation is informed by science to apply.

The ideal candidate would be a mid-career professional who would help shape and support our growing programs at the undergraduate, graduate and professional education levels at the intersection of business and health innovation. The candidate should have existing external partners in the health industry and would be encouraged to maintain and further develop those partnerships. We seek an engaged colleague interested in interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership within the department or university. The candidate would be expected to teach courses in our graduate programs (MBA), undergraduate health industries major, and contribute to our executive and professional education offerings. The teaching load for this position will be five courses per year after an initial phase-in period.

The candidate would join the Natural and Applied Sciences Department (NAS). NAS is at the forefront of driving innovation and shaping the future through our three key areas of emphasis: Health Industries, Sustainability Sciences and Psychology. Our cutting-edge programs provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the complex interplay between science, technology and society. In our health industries programs, students explore the physical and psychological aspects of health, gaining insights into how advancements in these areas can be applied to various sectors, including human resources, organizational management, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and healthcare delivery. Through a seamless integration of scientific theory and hands-on learning experiences, our courses span diverse fields such as biology, chemistry, earth and environmental science, genetics, public health and psychology.

This position aligns with the growing focus on innovation outside the NAS department as well. Bentley University is making significant investments, as part of its strategic plan, in the areas of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. The ideal candidate would be strongly encouraged to drive innovation internally and contribute their experience and leadership to these efforts.

The faculty member will collaborate in research, teaching, leadership, and partnership-building with the Center for Health and Business and the Center for Integration of Science and Industry. The Center for Health and Business (CHB) builds on Bentley’s strengths as a business university to advance impactful, transdisciplinary programs in health. The CHB serves as the hub for integrative and strategic health-related opportunities for the Bentley community and partners through advancing interdisciplinary research, creating and facilitating educational offerings, supporting emerging health leaders and cultivating meaningful external collaborations that spark innovation and improve outcomes. Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent terminal degree) in biology, engineering, innovation science, public health, or a related scientific field.
