Job Description:

SES Environmental Resources Solutions LLC (ERS) is growing! We are seeking a Project Manager I to support our ecological services team in Jacksonville, Florida.

This position provides environmental consulting services for government and commercial clients during planning, design, construction, and restoration phases. Typical projects include siting/routing, environmental permitting, environmental regulatory review, natural resources evaluation, wetland delineation, listed species surveys and relocation, stormwater compliance, mitigation planning and implementation. The Project Manager I is accountable for developing proposals and executing projects within scope, budget, and schedule, self-performing technical work within their area of expertise and supported by our team of environmental scientists, engineers, and other technical professionals. The Project Manager I serves as the primary point of contact with internal and external stakeholders including the project team, ERS leadership, clients, regulators, and the general public, and is accountable for developing and maintaining these relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a fundamental understanding of project management and experience working through regulatory requirements overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife (USFWS), Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Florida State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), and water management districts. Specialized expertise in wetland delineation, gopher tortoises (surveys, handling), bats (acoustic surveys, mist net surveys, telemetry), birds/ornithology, plants/botany, stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), master planning, landscape architecture, forest management planning, preparing Natural Resource Evaluations (NREs), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews, or conducting Bird/wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) reviews are appreciated but not required.

The ideal candidate will be fast-paced, proactive, structured, accurate, and thrive in a technical expert role. This position reports to the Jacksonville, Florida office, requires approximately 25% travel, with the potential for a hybrid schedule. This position requires working in a variety of weather/environmental conditions and may require working outside of standard working hours for travel or dusk/dawn/nocturnal surveys.

  • Manages all aspects of projects from the proposal phase through closeout;
  • Conducts field surveys and thoroughly documents field activities through field notes and photographs;
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of project finances and accounting/ project manager tools;
  • Attends client meetings;
  • Schedules and manages resources for project work;
  • Manages low-complexity projects (few or no subcontractors, minimal technical requirements, and low risk);
  • Responsible for completing projects on time and within budget and scope;
  • Mentors project team or others in project management fundamentals;
  • Performs technical tasks, such as calculations, layouts, data analysis, and preparation of a report under the direction of a senior professional;
  • Works both in a team environment and with minimal supervision; and
  • Displays a strong work ethic and professional demeanor.



Minimum Qualifications:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Zoology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or related field;
  • Five years relevant professional experience in state and federal wetland permitting
  • Maintains or is pursuing professional licensure or relevant technical certification (e.g., Project Management Professional [PMP], licensed Professional Geologist [PG], licensed Professional Engineer [PE], Associate or Certified Wildlife Biologist [AWB/CWB], Qualified Airport Wildlife Biologist [QAWB], Professional Wetland Scientist [PWS], Arborist)

If required, individual must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to; hard hats, safety-toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection. Job is performed in a combination of office work, work throughout occupied and unoccupied buildings, and outdoor site locations. The office setting includes exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Building assessments will be conducted throughout buildings including crawl spaces, attic spaces, and confined spaces. Outdoor settings include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
