Under supervision of the Process Supervisor, this position will assist in the daily operation of the production crew. This position will also be responsible to make periodic and routine checks on all employees and production equipment to oversee that the plant is operating safely and efficiently.
Requirements
Assist the Process Supervisor in employee on the job training, safety training, and record keeping.
Assist the Process Supervisor in employee evaluations and promotions
Responsible for all daily work place inspections
Oversees production personnel in safety, housekeeping and daily work assignments.
Directs employees to ensure the proper operation of plant equipment
Assist in areas of disruption of process flow.
Inspect & lubricate five plant water wells.
Inspect the Dome, Clinker barn, and Finish silo areas.
Change cement line valves to control flow of cement from FM to storage silos.
Inspect all fresh water, process water, & scrubber pumps for proper operation.
Blank & unblank cement lines.
Must be able to operate front-end loader, bobcat, forklift, dump truck, snorklelift, backhoe, tractor trailer, 988B, 988C, & 966
Assists in maintenance repairs.
Visually checks all operating equipment and performs emission inspections as required.
Assists with kiln repairs when needed.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have plant experience or knowledge of Finish Mill(s) and Kiln(s) and their operation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate air lance, jackhammer, shovel, hoe, pry bar, wheelbarrow, broom and hand tools
Ability to operate skid steer loader, forklift and tractor-trailer rigs
Must have a willingness and ability to learn new tasks and operate with considerable focus on safety
Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English (meetings, telephone, & radio) preferred
Work a rotating shift
Must be a self-starter able to work with little or no supervision
Maintain a positive work attitude
Ability to perform minor maintenance
Must have good attendance
Ability to reason through operational issues as they arise and resolve them or communicate with others
Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibilities
Excellent work and safety record
Understanding of Lockout/Tagout procedures
Physical Requirements
Lift up to 50 pounds and push a wheelbarrow containing 60 - 100 pounds
Ability to climb up to 100' on ladders and catwalks and perform work
Ability to work at heights up to 350' above ground level
Visual acuity, speech & hearing, hand & eye coordination
Manual dexterity to operate equipment and use basic hand tools
Must be able to use jackhammer, shovel, broom and wheel barrow for up to 8 hours per day for various plant cleanup tasks
Walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing, repetitive motion, driving, and squatting to perform the essential functions of this production labor position
Physical requirements also include visual acuity, speech and hearing, standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, climbing on equipment, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, balancing and squatting
Must use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required
Working Conditions
Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, and/or rain). Must be able to work in noisy environment with noise levels up to 120 dba. Must be able to work in environments including vibration and mechanical and electrical hazards. Must be able to work any assigned shift. May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDS's)
