Overview

The Quality Assurance Coordinator works with various aspects of the School of Dentistry (SOD) quality assurance program including collection of data, generation of reports, and verbal and written data presentations. This position is responsible for maintaining records in accordance with OSHA, Oregon OSHA, the Oregon Board of Dentistry regulations, CDC, SOD, and CODA guidelines.

This role assists the Associate Director, Infection Prevention and Control, Dental Practice Managers, and the Sterile Processing, Safety and Logistics Manager, provides new/revised requirements for the use in updating the SOD Clinic Manual, clinical protocols and job aids, which include trainings and coursework within the school.

The Quality Assurance Coordinator facilitates the SOD Hazard Communication and Hazardous Waste disposal in clinics and clinic labs.This position coordinates the medical response and reporting for all SOD emergencies, including bloodborne pathogen exposures and patient incidents and ensures appropriate follow up with other OHSU regulating bodies.

The Quality Assurance Coordinator may work directly with patients, students, faculty, Group Practice Coordinators, and Group Practice Leaders in response to patient quality actions Inservice training may be provided to SOD staff involved in quality assurance and improvement.



Responsibilities

  • Four years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
  • An Associate's degree or certificate in office occupations or office technology and two years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
  • A Bachelor's degree and two years of general office or secretarial experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Prior experience in patient relations -OR- minimum five years in healthcare field using strong customer services skills
  • Basic knowledge of infection control principles and best practices
  • Prior experience maintaining compliance with regulatory organizations


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or basic sciences
  • Dental Assistant certification
  • Basic knowledge of dental terminology, three to five years experience as a dental assistant
  • Quality Assurance or Quality Improvement experience
