We’re seeking someone who is wanting to make a difference in someone’s life as a Cook Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Challenge Unlimited, Inc/Residential Options in Godfrey, IL.
No experience! No Problem! We provide all the PAID training needed to provide the best care.
Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities need people in their lives who provide them with assistance and instruction on completing tasks most people take for granted. The people who provide this help and training are called Direct Support Professionals, or DSPs. At Residential Options, our DSPs work in residential settings helping our clients learn new skills, reach life goals, and turn houses into homes. DSP's report to the Director of Residential Options or Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP).
Position Summary:
Shift: Full Time
Hours: Days 6am-2pm
Salary: $19 dollars per hour + BENEFITS!
Location: Godfrey, IL
Responsibilities:
Ensure that all health, safety, and sanitation procedures are followed while preparing meals including prescribed diets.
check and document refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
Train co-workers on skills to assist Residents in meal preparation.
Monitor and supervise family style meal service.
Ensure adherence to the daily activity schedules.
Deliver care to residents outlined in their resident plan, primarily dealing with meal preparation
Prepare food/kitchen supplies shopping list, order food/ kitchen supplies, and purchase food/kitchen supplies.
Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and comply with Company safety and OSHA standards.
Assist Residents by completing cooking, cleaning, laundry, and administering proper dose and timing of medications to Residents.
Assist Residents with bathing, hygiene, and toileting when a Resident is not capable of completing independently.
Assist Residents in increasing independence through travel training, community inclusion, and health/safety training.
Perform tasks necessary to maintain a safe living and working environment (i.e., learning, shoveling walks, etc.
Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency.
Report behaviors, accidents, new issues to RSM.
Documentation in a Residents file of services provided, health, behaviors or uncommon events.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must pass a criminal background check
Must pass a child abuse & neglect background check
Must pass a motor vehicle background check
Must be at least 21 years old
Have a valid driver’s license
Must pass state required CASAS literacy assessment prior to employment.
Must have or obtain an Illinois Food Service and Sanitation certificate within the first 6 months and renew it as required.
CPR, 1st Aid, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Med Passing and DSP training provided by the company must be successfully completed within the first 4 months and annually thereafter to maintain the position
