We are looking for a Lead Look Development Artist with expertise in materials, shaders, and lighting. As a key member of the development team, you will collaborate with world-class artists, engineers, designers, and technical artists to help solve some of our most complex problems and help to achieve world-class visual results.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:


  • Work closely with the art director to target specific looks and run initiatives to deliver on the project art goals.

  • Lead efforts for real-time rendering workflows, problem solving, and targeting visual quality.

  • Provide vision and long-term planning for look development.

  • Work with the team around you to develop solutions to achieve groundbreaking visual results using efficient and cost-effective methods.

  • Grow teams and help talented artists achieve their full potential.

  • Set up strategies and planning for optimal runtime performance without sacrificing artistic integrity.

  • Oversee the development of material libraries, surfacing techniques, lighting, and engine best practices.

Requirements


  • 8+ years of experience in AAA games. Proven experience, having shipped a major game title in a relevant role.

  • Experience in modern game engines and their workflows.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

  • Creative problem-solving skills that lead to innovative solutions on challenging technical content creation problems.

  • Experience mentoring and managing artists.

  • Strong art skills with experience and deep understanding of lighting, asset creation, surfacing, and rendering.

  • Proficient with profiling tools in the examination and diagnosis of performance issues.

  • Strong technical problem-solving skills.

  • A strong understanding of bleeding-edge scanning and photogrammetry techniques.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $97,200.00 - $179,900.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
