As a Board Manager you will be a managing administrator for UTAs Board of Trustees and Local Advisory Council. This position develops content and directs the organization of all public meetings of the Board of Trustees and Local Advisory Council. Manages complex and strategic projects that support the functions of meeting management and content for board meeting decisions. Acts as a liaison between the Board & Council members, senior staff, community stakeholders and constituents. Manages and is responsible for compliance with the Utah Code for conducting open and public meetings. Delegates and directs the work of others in planning and administering meeting functions. Works with the Director on special projects and assignments and to collaborate on initiatives of the Board of Trustees and Local Advisory Council.Education/Training: Bachelors in Political Science, Business, Public Administration, or equivalent work experience.Experience:
  • 5 years in office management/administration and administering functions related to Board of Director/Trustee or executive level activities and responsibilities.
  • At least two years of those in professional writing. Experience administering open and public meetings in a government setting.
Knowledge:
  • Specialized knowledge in processes or management systems of boards (or equivalent bodies), including an understanding of board governance and the ability to translate relevant governance to UTA business
Skills:
  • Establishes and maintains personal and professional credibility with political leaders, board members, senior staff, stakeholders and constituents
  • Communicates information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; possesses high level competence in reading and understanding written information
  • Uses technology to automate functions and process information efficiently and properly.
  • Uses analytical, systematic, logical approach to work and problem solving
  • Advanced proficiency preferred in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, and in Adobe Pro
  • Proficiency utilizing board management software (or comparable Software as a Service); proficiency with Granicus/Legistar preferred
Ability to:
  • Be accountable for conducting legally compliant public meetings
  • Understand and operationalize the vision, strategy initiatives and expectations of the Board.
  • Create processes, structures and data requirements that comply with Open and Public Meeting requirements
  • Prepare documents using appropriate grammar, terminology and format
  • Decipher/prioritize requests and delegate to appropriate staff
  • Work with minimal supervision and take initiative to achieve results
  • Work under pressure to meet executive requests while maintaining professional composure; exhibit confidence and defuse difficult situations
  • Be true to value-based decisions
  • Collaborate without needing to hold power
  • Handle multiple tasks and interruptions throughout day
  • Be flexible and change direction based upon urgent requests or needs of the Board or executives
