Job Description:

SUMMARY:

Performs painting duties necessary to keep in good repair all painted and stained finishes of all campus buildings both interior and exterior. This includes drywall repair, taping and finishing, plaster repair, specialty coatings and furniture refinishing of all buildings and equipment.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Direct Responsibilities

  • Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trim and fixtures of buildings and other surfaces
  • Smooths surfaces using sandpaper, brushes or steel wool
  • Fills nail holes, cracks and joints with putty, plaster or other filler
  • Ability to repair and finish sheetrock
  • Proper use of chemicals when cleaning tools
  • Other duties assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Will be exposed to loud noise (equipment) and product fumes (stains, paints, etc.) in the shop or on work sites.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Physically capable of working while bending, stooping, kneeling.
  • Capable of working in all types of weather conditions such as rain, flooding, snow, ice, hot and cold temperatures.

  • All Facilities employees are expected to comply with safety standards and demonstrate safe work habits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires knowledge of all type of paints, stains, and related equipment
  • Capable of using a variety of hand, portable, and shop tools while following safety guidelines
  • Ability to repair and finish sheetrock
  • Must have knowledge in proper cleaning methods and chemicals used in order to maintain equipment
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize ones daily work
  • Must maintain a neat and professional appearance
  • Must be courteous and professional with all customers and co-workers
  • Must accomplish work while exercising safety standards and guidelines
  • Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of assigned vehicle
  • Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Must be familiar with using electronic devices for communication
  • Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of five years' experience with painting and drywall expertise

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, non-exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; 8 hours a day; 40 hours per week; flexibility required.
  • All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel, and are also subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis, and are also subject to planned overtime work as required by the supervisor.

SALARY STRUCTURE:


Pay Grade 4 (Hiring Range $18.18 to $22.72 per hour)
