Job Description:
SENIOR DATA ENGINEER
Shipt, Inc. seeks a full-time Senior Data Engineer based in Birmingham, AL. Works on the Data Warehouse team, which is core to the organizational goal of moving to multiple, independent micro-services and increasing our feature deployment velocity. This position requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and four (4) years of experience in Data Engineering or related occupation. Must also have four (4) years of experience with each of the following: 1) developing, maintaining, and supporting data pipelines to move data from an enterprise service bus messaging to a data lake and ultimately data warehouse analytical stores test the data pipeline code to ensure quality builds; 2) collecting and monitoring metrics necessary to quantify system performance and forecast future capacity needs; 3) working within a Data Warehouse team and with other members of an engineering organization to build services that subscribe and collect messages from next generation services for entity CRUD functions and business activity; 4) performing data engineering while maintaining engineering code-base ownership, including merge request review/approval, code standards, and coaching junior team members; 5) utilizing the following technologies and tools: schema design for decision support, particularly dimensional data modeling; SQL (query plan optimization, windowing functions, and aggregate design); technologies and design patterns in fields such as: micro services, streaming / queuing systems, SQL and key-value stores, and high-performance solutions (vectorization, task and data parallelism); Snowflake, Redshift or BigQuery; Python; Airflow or similar framework; and CI/CD. All experience may have been gained concurrently. Experience must have been acquired after completion of the Bachelors Degree program. This position requires the following certifications: SnowPro Core Certification; Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals; AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner; Informatica Data Quality Development. Position is a hybrid position with an in-office requirement. Worker must live within a commutable distance of Birmingham, AL and be able to work in-office as required.
