This position will involve performing biochemical assay development for HTS/MTS campaigns; to support med chemistry effort and test potency of research compounds (SAR, MOA, etc.)
The Ideal Candidate would possess:
Experience successfully carrying out basic lab operation (buffer preparation/characterization; solutions, sample preparation, dilution, basic instrument troubleshooting and problem solving so to minimize equipment downtime).
Biochemical assay development and execution : Develop high quality, robust biochemical assays for MTS/HTS campaigns; the potency and MOA testing of small molecules to support drug discovery
Determine kinetic characteristics of an enzyme activity including Km, linearity, stability, tolerability, etc.
Complete the development successfully
Achieve a robust enzyme response with compliance to NIH guidelines
Perform HML and IC50 tests
Timely record critical experimental findings and communicate back to the team and med chemistry group
Achieve turnaround time for compound testing within 24-48 hours
Make sound judgment on scientific merits and seek advice when appropriate
LC/MS methods: Carry out biochemical assays using LC/MS technology
Develop successful LC/MS method for detection of analyte of interest (collaboration with Analytical R&D, Waltham)
Prepare calibration curves
Achieve desired assay window
Minimize background and carryover signals
Timely record all experimental findings in adequate details in eLN
Seek advice when appropriate
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. with 4-6 years of related experience or M.S. with 2-3 years of related experience
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
