The Department of Respiratory Care in the College of Health Sciences at Boise State University invites applications for a 9-month open rank/open track position. This position is primarily responsible for teaching in the four-year, on-campus Bachelor of Science Degree Entry-Level Program. Rank and track will be awarded commensurate with experience in teaching and/or scholarship. Tenure-track individuals will adhere to the tenure-eligibility requirements of the University. The start date for this position will be Summer or Fall 2025.
The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care Entry-Level Program faculty member has the primary responsibility for teaching on-campus students in a designated area of specialization. Active engagement in Program, School, College, and University service is also expected. They will be faculty and the content expert for selected courses and will be responsible for performing quality assurance tasks every semester for face-to-face, hybrid, online and/or clinical courses. The successful candidate must be able to reside in the Boise valley for in-person instruction.
The major responsibility of this faculty position involves teaching students in both academic and clinical settings, supervising clinical experiences, facilitating simulation-based experiences, and engaging in professionally-related service. Participation in research or scholarship activities as part of their regular assignment will be based on designation of track and workload allocation. The essential duties and responsibilities of faculty within the Department of Respiratory Care are assigned by the academic Department Chair.
Workload for this position will be negotiated upon acceptance of the position. The allocation of workload will be dependent upon the track offered. However, a 9-month faculty member typically has an average teaching/service load of 30 work-load units throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. Negotiation of workload allocation to support research or other interest, which further the departmental mission, is at the discretion of the applicant and Department Chair.

The Department of Respiratory Care offers three programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). At the undergraduate level, the department is home to an Entry-Level BSRC Program that qualifies students for the credential-earning examinations of the National Board for Respiratory Care. The department also offers an online RRT to Bachelor of Science Degree Advancement Program (DAP) for RRTs who have earned an Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution. At the graduate level, the department offers an online MSRC Degree Program for RRTs who hold a valid credential and a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. The department is housed in the School of Allied Health Sciences, which also houses Kinesiology, Radiologic Sciences, and Genetic Counseling programs. The School of Allied Health Sciences is one of four schools in the College of Health Sciences that also includes the Schools of Nursing, Social Work, and Public & Population Health.
