The University of Miami Health System Department of MSOM Radiology PACS has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager 1 to work at Desai Sethi Medical Center in Miami. The incumbent oversees the planning, implementation, and tracking of a variety of projects to ensure the successful development, completion, and implementation of department projects and initiatives
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Defines the scope of projects in conjunction with leadership.
Discusses the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
Determines the resources required to complete each project.
Establishes and documents comprehensive project plans and timelines, which identify and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete projects.
Reviews project schedules with leadership and other staff that will be affected by the project activities.
Monitors the progress of the projects and makes adjustments to ensure successful completion.
Consults with the appropriate leadership on the selection of staff to assist with projects.
Assigns project task to the identified project team for handling.
Ensures all project personnel receive orientation that is appropriate to the project.
Manages project staff according to the established policies and practices of the organization.
Reviews the quality of work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that work produced meets project standards.
Documents all project-related activities and ensures project files are maintained and secured accordingly.
Creates a communication schedule to update stakeholders, including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of projects.
Prepares presentations and presents status reports for leadership
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions
As a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) Project Manager, your role would encompass various responsibilities related to the planning and implementation of PACS and other systems within the radiology department, including AI enabled platforms.
Project Planning: Develop project plans outlining the scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and budget for PACS implementation projects.
Support radiologists during planning and execution of IRB-approved research projects that require PACS data extraction.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as radiologists, IT staff, clinicians, and administrators to gather requirements and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Work with subspecialty champions to assess the feasibility of integrating AI enabled platforms within existing workflows with the goal of enhancing practice efficiencies.
Vendor Management: Provide appropriate feedback related to vendors for imaging hardware, software, and related services. Collaborate with hospital leadership to help manage contracts and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle. Help with pre and post deployment evaluation of AI solutions to determine need for upgrades, enhancements, and patches.
System Design and Configuration: Work with technical teams to help configure PACS customizable features, workflows, and settings that meet clinical and operational requirements. Ensure interoperability with existing systems and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., DICOM, HIPAA). Help plan for the integration of commercially available/FDA cleared AI modules with the PACS system for advanced image processing and analysis capabilities.
Implementation Oversight: Lead the implementation of PACS and related systems, including installation, configuration, testing, and training activities. Monitor project progress, identify risks, and take corrective actions as needed to ensure successful deployment.
User Training and Support: Develop training programs and materials to educate end-users (e.g., radiologists, technicians, clinicians) on PACS and AI enabled platforms usage and best practices. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to address user inquiries and issues.
Quality Assurance and Testing: Establish quality assurance processes to validate the functionality, performance, and security of PACS systems. Conduct regular testing, audits, and performance evaluations to maintain system integrity and compliance. Coordinate with AI platform vendors for rigorous testing of AI solution functionalities to ensure they meet clinical and technical standards.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of PACS and related systems configurations, workflows, policies, and procedures. Generate regular reports on project statuses, key metrics, and key performance indicators for management review.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, workflow enhancement, and technology upgrades to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of PACS systems. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in medical imaging and informatics. Explore advancements in artificial intelligence that can be leveraged to enhance PACS and voice recognition functionalities, including, generative AI, predictive analytics and semi-automated diagnostic support systems.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that PACS and related systems implementations adhere to relevant regulatory requirements, such as FDA regulations, Joint Commission standards, and data privacy laws. Implement security measures to safeguard patient health information (PHI) and ensure data confidentiality.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in healthcare informatics, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degree or certification (e.g., PMP, CPHIMS) preferred
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
PMP, CPHIMS preferred.
Prior experience in project management, preferably in healthcare IT or medical imaging.
In-depth knowledge of PACS technologies, DICOM standards, and medical imaging modalities (e.g., X-ray, MRI, CT), preferred.
Certification and Licensing:
PMP, CPHIMS preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Knowledge of business and management principles.
Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
