Responsibilities

  • Serves as a technical expert within the engineering team to plan the design process and solve problems of large scope and complexity
  • Establishes, designs, and specifies project-appropriate engineering requirements
  • Leads site investigations and observations
  • Prepares narratives, reports, calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints
  • Facilitates cross-discipline discussions and coordination
  • Reviews engineering documents for quality and compliance with code and program requirements
  • Participates in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFI’s, solving construction issues, and performing site visits to assess general conformance with the design concept
  • Develops training and educational opportunities for the engineering team
  • Leads the establishment and maintenance of engineering quality control processes and procedures
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the work of Engineers, EITs, and designers
  • Mentors and encourages the development of junior professionals and designers
  • Develops training and educational opportunities for the engineering team
  • Models and or coaches other engineers how to effectively communicate
  • Facilitate discipline project team creation in pursuit and delivery activities
  • Responsible for implementation of discipline standard practices in studio to facilitate one brand practice
  • Responsible for identifying discipline Subject Matter Experts specific to markets and technical experience within studio and communicating expertise to Discipline Director and National Director of Engineering
  • Participate or identify key personnel for participation in development of specific standardization practices identified by Discipline Director and National Director of Engineering
  • Responsible for communicating studio resource needs to Operations Director and Discipline Director for work sharing and recruiting coordination
  • Responsible for communicating engineering specific business development efforts in studio to Discipline Director
  • Participates in recruiting and hiring for discipline
  • Attends client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development
  • Performs marketing and business development activities including building relationship with key clients and strategic partners, proposal writing, fee estimates, and client interviews
  • Travel for marketing and project-related activities will be required




  • 10+ years licensed experience /3+ years team management
  • ABET-accredited degree in Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer required

General Characteristics

  • Assists Project Managers with fee development for engineering portions of work
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards
  • Production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets in Revit and AutoCAD required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency using industry standard calculation software required
  • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
