Reporting to the Director of NICU
The 46-bed unit is a Level III NICU and offers a very high degree of complex, quality care and access to a wide range of pediatric specialists for critically ill newborn. The Certified Nursing Assistant will work closely to support the NICU Nursing Staff.
Responsibilities:
When functioning in the Nursing Assistant role, the CNA works under the delegated authority of a registered nurse to perform a nursing function within their scope of practice and assist the nurse in collecting data for a nursing assessment under the supervision of a nurse.
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) may be assigned to function in either the Health Unit Coordinator (providing administrative support to NICU)
Obtain, record/report vital signs in EPIC (EMR)
Monitor/record I&O, assist with oral feedings, diaper changes/diaper care, checking infant weights
Set up of admission beds, Linen changes
Assist with weaning to crib
Restocking of bedside carts to meet needs of infant
General cleaning/maintenance of unit-environment of care rounds
Cleaning of bedspaces after discharge/transfer
Cleaning of radiant warmers/cribs/IV pumps/phototherapy lights etc.
Removing expired breast milk/ensuring fridges are clean, provide breast milk labels/supplies for mothers
Assists with off unit transports and escorts to discharge area
What you will need:
Certification as a nursing assistant by the Maryland Board of Nursing
High school diploma or GED
AHA BLS certification
Current knowledge of nursing skills within their scope of practice.
Computer and audiovisual skills using various applications and technologies: Internet, email, word processing, wireless phone, pager.
Ability to obtain and retrieve data.
Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize, ability to work well with individuals and groups.
Pay rate: $17.58 - $23.85
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
