Full-Time, Salary, Onsite position in San Carlos, CA



Purpose


Provide Quality Engineering support to transformer and mobile substation manufacturing.


Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and champion technical problem-solving activities and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure total customer satisfaction for medium power transformers and mobile substations.
  • Serve as the technical resource for the Quality Assurance team needs.

Specific Duties

  • Support manufacturing team as needed.
  • Bring together staff of different disciplines/locations and drive the group to plan, formulate and agree on quality management system documents.
  • Serve as a lead auditor - prepare, perform, report and follow up on internal system and process audits.
  • Conduct random audits as necessary based on individual process performance and product quality.
  • Influence process owners and collaborate on solutions.
  • Improve detection of non-conformances through the introduction of quality tools (Control Plans, Process Mapping, C&E Matrices, FMEA, MSA, Design of Experiments).
  • Interface with all disciplines to document, assign, and resolve product non-conformities.
  • Implement metrics where needed to measure process performance.
  • Use metrics, findings, and observations to assist Quality Supervisor in prioritizing and planning audit strategies and identifying educational needs for peer departments.
  • Support QA team as needed with Quality Management System activities/changes, corrective/preventive actions (including suppliers), hosting auditors and customers.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A driven leader that can analyze technical product features and create a team environment conducive to problem solving.
  • Knowledge in electrical and mechanical engineering fundamentals is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of the following is required: ISO 9001:2015, Internal auditing, Manufacturing, Statistics, Continuous Improvement Methodologies.
  • Must have the ability to teach, generate concise detailed reports, and implement metrics to measure process performance.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel as necessary to visit customers, suppliers, and sister plants in Quebec/Lynchburg
