Job Introduction



Graymont has a new opening for a Material Handler based out our Tacoma, WA Terminal. Hourly rate is $27/hour


United States - WA - Tacoma



PAY RANGE - $26.00/HOUR



The Material Handler safely operates plant equipment in the production of hydrated lime, pulverized lime, pulverized limestone, and bagged lime products of various sizes. Loads and unloads railcars, trucks, and trailers. Safely produces product in line with customer specifications and Graymont standards.


This position is temporary and may convert to a permanent role.



Key Responsibilities for the role:



  • Load and unload rail cars and trucks as directed

  • Assure that all products meet the quality specifications

  • Operate bag and bulk bag filling equipment, palletize filled bags, and prepare pallets of bags for shipment

  • Operate production equipment, including but not limited to the hydrate, pulverized lime, pulverized limestone, and crushing and screening processes.

  • Inspections of plant and machinery and report defects in order to ensure good state of repair and optimal operation.

  • Verify lubrication and fluid levels, and performs standard lubrication tasks.

  • Assist in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance tasks on plant equipment

  • Operating mobile equipment, including front end loader, forklift and dump truck. Obtain certifications required to operate mobile equipment.

  • Perform quality testing as prescribed in accordance with Graymont policies and procedures

  • Identify potential problems and non-conformances from normal operation and reporting all unusual operating parameters or observations to Plant Management

  • Assist with the review quality data and participating in the formulation of a corrective action plan as directed by Plant Management.


What you will need to succeed:





  • Adhere to all Graymont safety standards, principles, policies, and procedures.

  • Participate in regular Health and Safety meetings on site.

  • Ensure the accurate reporting and recording of all health and safety incidents, near miss or hazards in a timely fashion using company procedures and systems.

  • Complete all required training as specified by MSHA and Graymont standards

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly

  • Use of various hand, electrical tools and equipment

**All new hires are required to submit and pass drug and alcohol testing to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all Graymont employees.
