The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of the Empress mechanic shop(s). This position will oversee and work closely with Empress mechanics to complete the daily operations for the company's fleet of ambulances and other service vehicles. The Fleet Supervisor will maintain relationships with vendors for parts and service that will assist in this position. This position requires a working knowledge of the tools and equipment required to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair problems with diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, braking systems, electronics, specialty on-board equipment, and other components of the latest vehicles and associated technology. The Fleet Supervisor will ensure maintenance records are kept to Empress and Patient Care standards and are all current as applicable to DOT, DMV, DOH, and EPA standards, policies, and procedures that apply to the companies' vehicles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the scheduling and review of all required vehicle maintenance including inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance.
Organize, distribute, and supervise assignments and workload.
Responsible for maintaining all service and repair records.
Evaluation and recommendation of fleet concerning new and replacement equipment and parts as needed.
Investigate parts and supplies available from various vendors to obtain the highest quality and cost-effective products.
Conduct or direct the inspection, calibration, and operation of all meters, gauges, and other equipment used in the maintenance and repair processes.
Management of vehicle fueling and lubrication systems and equipment, including personnel training, safety, inspections, and permits or licensing.
Management of vehicle regulatory compliance requirements including tracking and maintenance of all required documentation (registrations, insurance, inspections) and governmental inspections required under DOT, DOH, DMV rules or those of agencies having jurisdiction.
Creation of a rotating on-call schedule for vehicle breakdowns or other emergency situations.
Supervise company mechanics at various locations.
Responsible for the organization and inventory of fleet related materials and equipment.
Maintain a clean, safe, OSHA complaint work environment at all Empress locations.
Communication of shop needs, repairs, issues, or requests for guidance using various forms including cell phone, computer programs, email, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years as a Certified Mechanic
1+ years supervisory experience preferred
High School Diploma or GED; College Degree preferred
Clean driving record
Good written and verbal communication skills
MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS
Lift 50 pounds unassisted
Kneel, crawl, and otherwise maneuver under vehicles and within tight spaces for vehicle inspection and repair
Stand or sit for extended periods of time
