Overview
ITS provides unique, custom solutions to meet our customers’ communications needs. Our solutions provide communication capabilities using modern technology. At their most complex, they are multi-purpose systems that gather information from dozens of different sources. The information is presented to decision makers immediately, visually, clearly. In support of this effort we are looking for a Senior Mainframe Hardware Support Technician.
Responsibilities
Research, evaluate and document the impacts and risks to hardware changes before change implementations are performed.
Plan, design, and document installation drawings and configurations to support DISA Mainframe hardware configurations. This support is for large IBM mainframe (20+ LPAR environments).
Plan, design, configure, document IBM Mainframe attached storage including RAID Technology Storage Products, Automated/Robotic and VTL Systems and FICON.
Develop, plan, evaluate and document cable configurations to include cable diagrams, existing cabling plant, available channeling to include FICON Director and Controller ports and configuration diagrams.
Provide support for cable configurations to include pulling cables, existing cabling plant, available channeling to include FICON Director and Controller ports and configuration diagrams.
Research, create, review, document and present channel and device activity reports to ensure optimum use.
Research, document, and provide written/oral problem analysis and problem resolution to aid in the identification and resolution of hardware problems.
Research, evaluate, create and document air-conditioning requirements to include British Thermal Units requirements, airflow balancing, additional air handler or upgrades, and installation requirements.
Research, plan, document and deliver channel requirements, environmental requirements to include power, floor tiles, and controller requirements for DISA Data Centers.
Document and provide all schedules, plans, research documents to the COR for review and comment.
Research, document and provide status of current and new technology advancements and report all findings and determinations to the COR or designated government personnel for review and comment.
Research, plan, document and provide floor space direction and expertise to ensure adequate service clearances, weight bearing load requirements, airflow and optimal operations considerations to support DISA Data Center equipment installation.
Research, plan, document and deliver system outage requirements, down time system effects related to hardware upgrades and implementations. Document and deliver recommendations for availability of alternate devices, processes, or solutions to maximize system availability. Deliver all findings, determinations, and recommendations to the COR for review and comment.
Use advanced knowledge of the IBM System z/OS and TSO/ISPF to access the IBM z/OS mainframe system.
Integrate application/system software with IBM Mainframe systems hardware platforms, including peripherals including DASD, printers, communications hardware, channel switches, Channel Paths, virtual tape subsystems.
Analyze and document hardware service operations and recommend changes, improvements and solutions to the COR or government designated personnel.
Develop, plan, document and present (written and/or orally) senior level technical advice and consulting services to the government on questions and issues relating to the computer facilities environment to include floor layout design and hardware technical refresh activities.
Research, develop, plan, design, configure, and document installation activities to the government for DISA Mainframe data center air-conditioning and floor space requirements.
Plan, document and coordinate the delivery and installation of hardware, including the transition from one hardware device or system to another.
Develop, document and maintain schematics for installed or planned hardware, including system/device inter-connectivity, and floor plan layouts for DISA datacenters.
Develop, document and provide written floor plans to the COR for review and comment.
Support the existing power cable plant; identify available power cables, connectors and installed breakers, breaker assignments and available slots.
Document and provide senior level technical consulting services on questions and issues relating to hardware maintained on the DISA Mainframe systems, including proposed changes and upgrades, future technologies, device limitations, recommended device workloads and additional resource requirement and forward all findings and recommendations to the COR for review and comment.
Investigate issues and create incident reports, including analysis of the issue, documentation of the issue using government approved document processes and software, presentation of incident reports (both orally and in writing) as requested by the government

Qualifications
Must have an active Secret clearance
BA/BS in a technical or managerial discipline with 5 years' experience relevant to the position responsibilities.
