Overview Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Laboratory and staff; oversees the administrative and technical functions of the Laboratory; ensures quality control of Laboratory equipment and procedures. This position requires Certified Histocompatibility Technologist certification with HLA lab experience. Ability to obtain the Certified Histocompatability Specialist certification within 2 years is also required.
Compensation range for this position is $109,901.00-$123,639.00

Manage assigned staff including selection, scheduling, work assignments, training and development, counseling, performance evaluation, recognition, promotion, disciplinary action and termination
Plan Laboratory staffing schedule to ensure adequate coverage of all Laboratory functions; available to assist Medical Technologists with problems that occur during testing
Plan, implement and monitor the training of assigned staff
Review current procedures for necessary changes and improvements; maintain up-to-date procedure manuals
Ensure proper quality control in all Laboratory procedures; ensure all employees are informed of any changes in procedure
Resolve daily operational problems; ensure proper procedures are being followed
Review all completed histocompatibility tests, and selected infectious disease tests, as necessary; identify probable cause for any irregular or atypical test results
Ensure proper maintenance, calibration and operation of all equipment; plan and monitor ordering and storage of supplies and equipment
Serve as the Laboratory representative on the Priority Workgroup; serve as the point of contact for all interactions with the Laboratory, internal and external
Develop short- and long-term department plans
Perform the duties of a Medical Technologist as needed
Notify the Laboratory Director of operational activities and problems
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Training Required
The following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job.
Bachelor's degree in one of the life sciences, or equivalent work experience
CHT (ACHI) certification
Ability to obtain CHS certification within 18 months of hire
Experience and Skills Required
The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.
5 years' Laboratory experience, at least 3 years of which must be in histocompatibility testing
Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge to perform all Laboratory functions
Previous supervisory experience
Ability to evaluate and analyze complex Laboratory processes and results
Ability to lead, coach and develop staff
Basic skills in Excel and Word
