Job Description for the Senior Process Engineer
The Senior Process Engineer is a member of the Scientific Operation team for the Women's Health and Cancer (WH&C) production plant. WH&C is part of the Becton Dickinson Life Sciences segment that manufactures and develops new diagnostic products for cancer diagnosis and infectious diseases. We are looking for a self-motivated engineer with project management skills and manufacturing experience of medical devices or pharmaceutical products. She/he will contribute to projects ranging from technical problem resolution, product quality investigations, supplier qualification, process development and validation, and technology transfer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead projects of different scopes and contribute as a process subject matter expert to teams tasked with resolving technical, quality issues or continuous improvement projects.
Drive the planning, execution and tracking of projects to meet expected deliverables on time.
Has good analytical skills and capable of analyzing issues and formulate solutions through data analysis, information gathering and by collaborating with associates with different background and competencies throughout the organization.
Review proposed engineering or manufacturing process changes and assess the associated risk to product quality and derive acceptable strategies by all stakeholders to successfully implement the change.
Capable of conducting root cause analysis and implement effective solutions to customer complaints, CAPAs, and products out of specification under QSR, ISO and cGMP guidelines.
Lead technology transfer of processes and products between BD sites and outside vendors.
Capable of writing protocols and associated reports, and execute design verification and validation, engineering studies and process validation, as required.
Work effectively with cross-functional teams (regulatory, quality, research & development, and operations) as a leader or an active representative of the Product Support Group and contribute to reach assigned goals.
Good oral and written communication skills are required, including presentation to update stakeholders on project progress.
Proficiency in MS office and suite is necessary. Experience with Minitab or other statistical software is desired.
Ability to drive multiple projects/tasks and adjust priorities, as necessary.
Education
B.S. degree required, engineering or sciences with 5 + years of relevant experience, or a combination of an advanced degree and working experience.
Preferred skills and experience
Action-oriented, with a record of driving all phases of project management including project planning, executing and tracking, and ensuring timely communication and escalation of unforeseen challenges.
Strong people skills.
Experience developing or manufacturing in vitro diagnostic products, pharmaceutical products.
Six sigma or lean certification and a working knowledge of applied statistical analysis.
