The Prepress Technician is responsible for imaging Offset plates, Flexo plates and mounting Flexo plates based on production schedule. Proofing plates to the okayed proof in the job jacket insuring no copy errors. Backup for Ink Tech for drawdowns of Flexo inks ensuring color match to SpotOn color management. SpotOn color checks of PMS and Special Blend colors during the okay procedure. Backup for Ink Tech for Flexo ink blending. Daily recycling of solvent separating polymers to replenish solvent. Maintenance for plate processors and solvent recycler. Knowledge of all software applications listed below is required. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)
Essential Position Functions:
Strive for 100% accuracy of Offset and Flexo plate proofing to the customers proof to avoid credits, reruns, waste, and downtime.
Measure all Flexo plates using a micrometer for floor relief and plate caliper insuring they are in tolerance.
Perform weekly back exposure step test to maintain the correct relief depth for Flexo plates.
Perform weekly face exposure test to maintain proper shoulders of dots, text, and depth of reverse text for Flexo plates.
Perform weekly post exposure test to maintain proper cure and tack finish for Flexo plates.
Take weekly light meter measurements to quantify 20mW to 27mW for exposure lamps. Change all lamps at 20mW.
Maintenance both the Offset and Flexo plate processors weekly.
Maintenance the solvent recycler daily after distillation of solvent.
Support production with measurements of PMS spot colors using SpotOn Color verifying press sample is within tolerances of a given ΔE (Delta E). Sign off on color after viewing under D50 (5000 Kelvin) for a human perception.
Blend PMS colors when needed as backup for the Ink Tech adjusting colors base on measurements using SpotOn Color to achieve tolerance of a given ΔE (Delta E).
Drawdowns of new color formulations when needed as backup for the Ink Tech.
Filing of all unused backup plates for exact repeat orders.
Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Associates art-school degree in graphics preferred but not required.
Must have proficient knowledge of Mac-based computer.
Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
Must have Adobe Creative Suite advanced experience to set up and adjust customer supplied art files using programs listed below.
Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat
Must have ESKO advanced experience to verify and adjust are files and send files to corresponding processes for example, Flexo or Offset
Must have EFI XF experience to manage EPSON P7570.
Fiery Command Station, EF Color (calibrate EPSON printer)
Must have experience using X-rite for i1 Display
Must have experience using Spot-On Color
Must have experience using Grapholas to set up templates and sends to Spark CDI.
Merger and Exposer
Must have experience using Navigator Harlequin to manage files sent to Fujifilm dart 4300 CTP.
RIP for Offset
Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
Must be able to read and communicate in English, for safe and effective performance of the job and business operations.
Must be able to work alone, and with a team.
Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
