Dual Enrollment Program Coordinator

Position Summary

Michigan State University Dual Enrollment is seeking applications for our Dual Enrollment Coordinator position. This position will coordinate the dual enrollment activities with the goal of helping high school students feel like they belong on campus.


This is accomplished by increasing involvement and engagement of local schools in activities and events; keeping them informed of events happening in the university; involving students and schools in activities and programs; and building inclusive connections by providing services that keep students networked within MSU as well as with their dual enrollment peers. This position deals with highly sensitive and confidential information. This position is responsible for ensuring operational policies and procedures are followed and accurate records are kept.


The Dual Enrollment Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, implementing and maintaining the services and programs of the office of Dual Enrollment by supporting office functioning, and implementing individual and community development programs; provides financial and operational support for the office; supports the Assistant Director in various administrative tasks and serves as a key collaborator and thought partner with the Assistant Director on Dual Enrollment initiatives.


The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include occasional night and weekend travel for various college events.


Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:


· The coordinator serves as the primary contact of programmatic efforts, including developing, coordinating, implementing, and promoting programs and events; serves as a direct contact for high school students; updates websites. This individual is making decisions and answering questions based on their own judgement.


· Creates materials and communicates with Michigan high schools through the Dual Enrollment website, emails, and surveys.


· Plans, coordinates, and/or assists with development events such as orientations and scholarship events with a strong focus on diversity, representation, inclusive excellence, and equity.


· Utilize MSU marketing resources to develop and implement a creative strategic plan that reflects principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.


· Assists with project development and monitors, analyzes, and reconciles related records.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Educational Theory and Methodology and/or a specialization in the designated area of expertise; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in planning and overseeing seminars and conferences including public relations, organizing and disseminating training materials and information both written and web- based; budget and records maintenance and computer support; experience in database, spreadsheet, word processing, desktop publishing, knowledge of HTML programming and web site development and management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 1-year experience in customer service;

  • Excellent driving record and a valid driver's license.

  • Computer skills include proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), and Adobe;

  • A completed bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required

  • Prior experience working with pre-college or youth programs

  • Ability to effectively work independently and as a team member

  • The ability to communicate effectively in writing with families and community partners.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner

  • Motivation to contribute positively to the MSU at-large community;

  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form;

  • Multi-task efficiently while managing a high-volume workload in a fast-paced, changing environment;

  • Superior customer service skills with the ability to be creative and think 'outside the box';

  • Strong command of communication, writing, organizational and problem-solving skills;

  • Effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds and different levels of experience;

  • Ability to work in a busy environment with some distractions;

  • Write reports and correspondence with attention to detail;

  • Ability to maintain program payments utilizing Microsoft Excel;

  • Ability to track information and manage high volume of data.

  • Familiarity with current social media technologies

  • High energy person and able to travel around to various on-campus programs
