Key Responsibilities :

Juniata College seeks applicants to serve as facilities supervisor of the 365-acre Raystown Field Station (RFS) near Juniata's campus in Huntingdon, PA. This is a full-time, 12-month position.



Primary Role: Ensures that all facilities, grounds, fleet and equipment are safe and in good working order. Manages all scheduled and planned maintenance. Coordinates with RFS Director and RFS Program Coordinator to support station activities. Supports academic programs through research supervision and coordination.



Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

*Provide general preventative maintenance for all facilities, vehicles, watercraft, and equipment
*Provide general grounds care and road maintenance
*Ensure facilities, vehicles, and watercraft remain in regulatory and safety compliance
*Identify maintenance needs
*Project planning and development
*Direct the completion of projects by determining technical requirements and work objectives in coordination with the station Director

• coordinate work assignments and schedules


• obtain cost estimates for labor, materials and equipment


• supervise all work projects at the station

*Responsible for budget management including purchasing authority and monitoring expenditures to stay within budget limits
*Operate and maintain water treatment plant and drinking water systems
*Deliver basic safety training and provide facility related information to station users
*Provide programmatic support in coordination with the Director and Program Coordinator to support station activities and users including academic and non-academic
*Hire and supervise student employees
*Other duties as assigned



Supplemental Functions:

*Provide research supervision/assistance to students, faculty, and staff as needed
*Build and foster relationships with external organizations in support of the field station

Position Qualifications:

*Knowledge and capabilities normally acquired through an Associate's degree or equivalent work in the field of environmental science or a related field
*8-10 years of experience in facilities planning and maintenance with at least 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity
*Excellent communication skills
*A valid driver's license, clear of major violations

Supervision Required/Given:

This position will report to the Director of the RFS. Supervises student employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Bachelor's degree
*Boating license/safety certificate
*Prior experience working at a field station
*Prior experience with interagency coordination/planning
*Prior experience working with students
