Research Specialist will perform advanced experiments in a microbiology laboratory that are aimed at understanding the diversity and utility of Actinobacteriophages. Primary research responsibilities will include: isolation, characterization, and engineering of bacteriophages to various Actinobacteria including Mycobacteria, Gordonia, Arthrobacter, Microbacterium and Rhodococcus. Supervisory and training responsibilities for student researchers. Coordinate routine operations of lab.

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.
Aseptic technique and microbiology skills; math and analytical skills; bioinformatic analysis skills; Requires advanced microbiological techniques and skills in pipetting liquid solutions; supervise and train student researchers.
Position will require standing 75% of the day.
