Events and Sponsorships Lead (Senior Advisor) - Global Health Benefits

A detail-oriented and proactive leader, the Events & Sponsorships lead would be responsible for planning, coordination, execution and communication of events within the U.S. and internationally. This role will be best served by an entrepreneurial mindset that enjoys the intersection of data insights and creative growth strategies rooted in broker, client and sales engagement through sponsorships and events. This teammate will help execute existing sponsorship engagements, while helping to build the roadmap for a future state in which event and sponsorship engagements are targeted and curated in support of Global Health Benefits growth, and continuous programming improvement.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Identify in-market opportunities with the support of local sales teams and key stakeholders across the business

  • Identify sponsorship opportunities and Cigna's role (i.e. event participation and/or funding)

  • Partner with enterprise Meeting Services/Events and Sponsorships team on larger-scale events and sponsorships

  • Coordinate event logistics, including:

    • Location and venue selection and management

    • AV requirements

    • Show flow

    • Agenda

    • Event communications

    • Event registration



  • Ensure presenters are informed and prepared, including senior leadership

  • Oversee events from start to finish and attend key in-market and internal events

  • Manage events and sponsorships budget, ensuring events are delivered on time and within budget

  • Evaluate the success of events through attendance, engagement, feedback and ROI

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices, looking for new ways to engage our audiences

  • Work in tandem with other teams such as Sales, Client Management, Marketing, Brand, etc. to assure the successful implementation of strategic objectives

  • Establish relationships with key clients and external business partners to develop a pool of speakers

  • Management experience a plus

Ideal candidates will offer:


  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in a large, complex organization

  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • comfortable working closely with senior leadership, internal stakeholders, clients, brokers and vendors to ensure everyone is engaged and informed

  • creative thinker with the ability to develop new and innovative event ideas

  • must be able to operate independently and effectively in a highly matrixed global organization and collaborate with a team of professionals establishing strong relationships and proactively executing project plans

  • ability to work on multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, and travel to events and partner activations as required

  • ability to work from a Cigna office 3 days a week, as required by the business
