This position is responsible for creating and driving a strategic growth plan to grow hydraulic market share in both CI (construction industries) and RI (resource industries).  Excellent communication and reporting capabilities will be critical as responsibilities include updates to the leadership team, interfacing with customers, and serving as primary point of contact to Caterpillar for our hydraulic growth strategy.  The individual will be responsible for educating the product support team & customers on the features and benefits of Caterpillar hydraulics. The Hydraulic Specialist will also be responsible for maintaining a database of hydraulic opportunity and options for sales representatives to present to customers. 


Pay Rate:  $80,000.00 Base Salary + Commission
Pay rate is dependent upon education & experience. 

Essential Functions:

  • Leads the effort within Wagner Equipment Co. to grow Hydraulic revenue and achieve goals agreed to by management

  • Provides recommendations and partners with Dealer Inventory Control Manager for hydraulics stocking at customer and branch locations

  • Team sells hydraulics business in partnership with PSSRs, ISRs, Parts Counter Sales, and others within the organization.

  • Achieves expertise in hydraulics through training, research, and continued learning

  • Identifies, deploys, and implements marketing programs designed to increase the hydraulics business

  • Uses software tools (Microsoft Excel, Word, OLGA, SalesLink, etc) to analyze data, create recommendations, and propose solutions to customers

  • Provides training in hydraulics to ISRs, PSSRs, Parts Counter Sales, MSRs, and others as required

  • Acts as a single point of contact between all Wagner Equipment Co. departments, customers, and Caterpillar regarding hydraulics

  • Identifies and visits potential customers to achieve incremental hydraulics sales

  • Works safely at all times, adhere to all applicable safety policies, and complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards

  • Prepares written reports and recommendations as requested by management

  • Provides support and data to Caterpillar when required

  • Analyzes and reports significant competitive activity affecting sales of hydraulics

  • Utilizes CRM system to track sales activities

  • Supports Cat Care events and presents information in front of an audience

  • Develops a business plan to grow revenue and reports results to management

  • Conducts hydraulic business reviews annually to support business growth

  • Other duties as assigned by manager


Required Education and Experience:



  • High School Diploma or GED

  • College degree preferred

  • 3+ Years in account management experience, OEM experience preferred.

  • 5+ years practical experience in related field, Caterpillar experience preferred.

  • 3-5 years administrative/clerical experience

  • 3-5 years customer service experience

  • 3-5 years sales experience

  • 3-5 years technical/mechanical experience


Physical Demands & Competencies:



  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing but may require occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds

  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills

  • Safety & Product Knowledge

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Basic knowledge of DBS & CRM/Sales Link

  • Intermediate knowledge of ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook


Travel Requirements:



  • 50% and greater
