Overview



American Residential Services LLC. provides heating, air conditioning, indoor air quality, plumbing, drain cleaning and sewer line services from company-owned locations across the United States. United by exceptional service, the ARS/Rescue Rooter Network serves both residential and light commercial customers. ARS is seeking an Assistant Divisional Controller to support the Northeast and Atlantic Region's current accounting needs as well as plan for future growth. This is an outstanding opportunity for an energetic professional, who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, to work closely with and support the Division Controller and leadership while supporting local branches.



Travel - In order to support the needs of local branches, travel expectations could be up to 50% of the time.



Location - Should the candidate reside within the Northeast or Atlantic Regions (Boston, MA through Raleigh, NC), and prefer working within an office, they will have access to an office at the branch closest to their home. Should they reside outside of the Regions, they will be eligible to work remotely. A remote employee must be proficient in the use of collaboration tools to promote communication, engagement, and teamwork. Additional remote work expectations will be outlined during the interview and hiring process.



Salary Expectations: $140,000 - $150,000 per year salary, plus annual bonus opportunity.



Responsibilities





  • Maintain close working relationship with the Division and branch Controllers, GMs, and VPs to coordinate and support both branch and regional objectives.

  • Provide direct support and thought partnership to the Divisional Controller.

  • Partner with Divisional Controller to execute strategic initiatives and ensure best-practice process and procedure alignment across branches.

  • Provide coverage in the event the branch Controller position should become vacant.

  • Interface with other service center functional groups (service, sales, dispatch, fleet, customer service, purchasing, safety, HR) to evaluate financial impact of current and future activities.

  • Monitor financial control within various reporting functions such as material control, purchasing, labor reporting, central A/P processing, etc. Work with leadership and the branch Controller to address control deficiencies.

  • Assist with the resolution of issues and deficiencies highlighted by internal audits.

  • Ensure adherence to corporate directed policies and procedures. Escalate concerns regarding efficacy.

  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance as needed.

  • Produce ad hoc reporting and analysis to guide unbiased decision intelligence.

  • Oversight of monthly branch balance sheet fluctuations.




Qualifications





  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline

  • Minimum of 10 years relative accounting experience and a minimum of 5 years managerial experience are required.

  • Related education and/or training and/or experience may be considered for substitution.

  • This roll, at times, will be involved in month end close procedures, including submittal and review of general ledger transactions. While a CPA is not required, thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required.

  • JD Edwards software experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Advanced or expert proficiency using Microsoft Office products such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook are required.

  • Demonstrates strong verbal, written and people skills, with ability to establish cross functional relationships.

  • Proven leadership and possession of problems solving skills.

  • Demonstrates responsibility for financial control, which includes the ability to gain understanding and awareness of current processes, to identify and analyze potential weaknesses.
