Legal counsel responsible for managing legal risk across the Mizuho Americas fixed income trading and sales unit
Supporting Mizuho U.S. swap dealer and broker dealer business lines including swaps, foreign exchange, cleared products, credit, and repo.
Negotiating and drafting a broad range of complex trading and financing agreements for derivatives (e.g., ISDAs and futures), clearing and execution, investments, securities financing, tri-party custodian agreements, and bespoke products.
Researching and advising on regulations affecting the business and related legal issues.
Assisting with new projects, including knowledge management, establishment of standards and templates, and supporting new and expanding business areas.
Liaising with external counsel and other external advisers as needed.
Collaborating with other teams across Mizuho, including Sales and Trading, Credit, Operations, and Compliance.

Qualification:
Law degree from an accredited law school
2-4+ years of experience in a derivative/corporate/regulatory team at a law firm (preferred) or financial company
Experienced with drafting and negotiating trading and financing agreements
Reliable and flexible team player with a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and collaborative approach
Organized self-starter with project management skills and excellent attention to detail
Strong and concise communicator; skilled writer and negotiator
Able to handle competing priorities in a challenging, fast-paced environment
Highly analytical and pragmatic thinker who can articulate well-reasoned legal arguments to stakeholders
Familiarity with derivatives, financing, and related regulations (e.g., Dodd-Frank) is preferred
Related experience in emerging markets is a plus
Experience with netting opinions is a plus
The expected base salary ranges from $155,000.00 - $250,000.00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
