Job Description:

Responsible for tri-campus administration of retirement benefits with current University faculty and staff, upcoming retiring members, retirees, and beneficiaries



Duties:



  • Completes all subsidy billing for all campuses, ensuring that the University receives the maximum payment to assist in funding retiree benefits

  • Runs forfeiture reports, researches, and processes service requests to forfeit funds when appropriate

  • Provides analysis of various reports used to find and resolve issues

  • Responds to and resolves complex member issues and retiree benefit discrepancy problems

  • Works past due payment reports, sends past due notices, processes files to terminate coverage and sends information to University Collections when appropriate

  • Serves as the back-up to the Retirement Services Manager when needed, providing general day to day supervision of Retirement Specialist

  • Provides customer service support for all active employees and retirees

  • Reports benefits-related data and trends to department management

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:



  • 36 months experience working in Benefits, Retirement, Administration, or related field


Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.


Skills:



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to conduct employee / retiree presentations.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply basic math skills.

  •  Ability to collect and analyze data

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information

  • Ability to make sound administrative/procedural decisions and judgments calls

  • Basic problem-solving techniques

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.

  • Ability to excellent customer service and build rapport with faculty, staff, and retirees

  • Knowledge of benefit programs, best practices, policies, and compliance

  • Sit for prolonged periods. Use of a computer, calculator, and telephone.

  • Communicate effectively and listen.

  • Standard Office Environment

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.

  • Requires contact with employees, retirees, other departments, and University officials
