JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance - Completes and authenticates all documents and questionnaires that ensure compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, CMS, ODH)
Patient Information - Maintains confidentiality, protects and safeguards patient/family personal medical and financial information at all times during collection, use and storage. Access only information and records necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position. Document all care information related to patients coming into the emergency services system. Ensuring all information is accurate and escalated appropriately to care teams on site. Accurately documenting concerns or inquiries from families or pharmacies into the EMR. Closing out all concerns in a timely fashion. Following up on concerns as needed.
System & Process - Supports the Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, and Regulatory by ensuring that the necessary data, information and forms are obtained and accurately entered into the appropriate system. Talks to management to explain system errors or to recommend changes to the system. Report daily census information to the Greater Cincinnati Health Council. Accurately reflect mitigation strategies from senior leadership into the Disaster Net system. Serve as the communication hub for local mass casualty events. Provide backup to University of Cincinnati communication center.
Patient Responsibility - Responds to communication systems/patient alarms and executes with a sense of urgency. Ensures that within the division, all areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective, and efficient environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees. Maintains awareness of patient location and monitors traffic flow at front desk and on the unit. Reports maintenance (wiping down monitors, troubleshooting printer issues, logging off information, etc.) and environmental service needs to appropriate division and follows up to ensure completion. Collaborates with clinical, admitting information systems, and environmental services staff to coordinate efficient patient flow.
Safety & Communication - Ensures patient safety by identifying the correct patient. identifying special needs, and preparing isolation precautions for patients who have Infectious Disease indicators. Communicate information relating to incoming patients arriving at any of CCHMC's 7 campus'. Coordinate activation requests for medical/trauma response teams as well as other house wide activations. Manage referral and hospital transfer calls from community providers. Coordinate prehospital efforts, triage, and determine level of medical care needed for all EMS and Aeromedical vendors. Manage any other calls coming into any CCHMC emergency room or urgent care location.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
