Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic I (23021): Aircraft Mechanics I must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers. The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Job duties require that this mechanic adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair. May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing of contractor employee technical proficiency is not required.
(A dditional Qualifications - Aircraft Engine Mechanic I (Engine Manager) troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and performs sequential disassembly and assembly of aircraft jet engines IAW applicable Technical Data and reads and interprets AF technical manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. The Aircraft Mechanic I Engine Manager (EM) controls efforts to maintain adequate engine support for production and delivery requirements. The EM monitors all engines, modules and components, Special Inspections (SIs), Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) and Time Change Items (TCIs), of the F-15 and F-16 series jet engines and other inducted power plants. EM assignments will require:
a) Tracking of engine/component (both installed/removed) SIs, TCTOs and TCIs.
b) Planning, scheduling, and documentation of maintenance actions on all engines, modules and components.
c) Providing TCI information on serially controlled items for engine, module and component ‘cannibalization' actions.
d) Maintenance and updates to historical documents for all serially tracked engines, modules, components and major assemblies IAW T.O. 00-20-1.
e) Request and process initialization decks (I-Deck), to include embedded parts, part number, serial number, EOT, inspections, active TCTOs and TCIs, from CEMS Central Data Base (CDB) and ensure data in the IMDS mirrors the CDB.
f) Shipment/receipt of CRF engines and modules:
a. Will obtain MAJCOM EM approval prior to shipping CRF engines and modules
b. Ensure engines are prepared for shipment IAW TO 2J-1-18, and TO 00-85-20
c. Notify MAJCOM EM and the owning SRAN EM of engine and module shipments/receipts
d. Record shipment/receipt transactions in CEMS with "as of date and time" for engines and modules as delivered and accepted at the JEIM facility or physically leave the base.
g. Working knowledge of IMDS, CEMS, AFI 21-104, AFI/ANGI 10-201, AFI 23-101, T.O. 00-25-254-1, T.O. 00-25-254-2, T.O. 00-20-5-1, AFCSM 21-558, and aircraft ‘-6' T.O.s.).

Other Compensation
Employees receive a health and welfare benefit of $3.65 per hour paid up to 40 hours per week.
