The Department of Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology consists of 17 full-time faculty members and nearly 400 students majoring and/or minoring in one or more of the department's five programs: Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Social Work, and Geography. Our departmental mission is to present the intellectual foundations of sociology, social work, anthropology, criminology and geography. Built on a strong liberal arts base, our programs are mindful of each discipline's responsibility to mentor students who will be engaged citizens in a multicultural, diverse and global society.
This position is situated within the Department of Sociology, Social Work, & Anthropology (SSWA), which includes two separate Bachelor degree programs (a BA in Sociology with majors in Anthropology, Criminology, and Sociology, and a BA in Social Work) and two Centers (Center for Education Research and Policy and the Center for Crime, Equity, and Justice Research and Policy). This position requires a high level of competence, leadership, and organizational skill to manage the intersecting needs of these academic programs, and of the diverse faculty and student bodies they contain. This position is also responsible for hiring and supervising student workers, will assist in managing multiple state and foundation budget accounts, and will have a significant impact on the overall success of the department's mission.
