Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
Reporting to the Director for University Career Services, the Event and Program Coordinator contributes to the mission and goals of Career Services by leading the planning, promotion and implementation of career services programming and events through extensive collaboration with campus partners. The coordinator will lead the University Career Fair Planning Committee comprised of members from each college career partners on career programming and events include planning and implementing career fairs, student career fair preparation events, and other student and employer interaction opportunities (e.g., niche networking events, employer mock interviews, etc.). The committee will focus on student engagement with the career events planned and discussed during the committee's monthly meeting.
The coordinator will lead and coordinate office and department wide marketing development needs, providing logistical and design support and operate as a calendar and traffic manager for event and marketing asset needs and oversee message and content for all communication outlets (web, print, social media). Should include development of a marketing plan and upkeep as necessary to maintain a consistent style and look for all print and web communications. Create, implement, and evaluate marketing, promotions, advertising, and public relations for UNL Career Services. Assist in efforts for production and dissemination of Career Services Annual Report.
Support partners in developing and coordinating several niche, industry-focused networking events focused on supporting students pursuing non-linear careers in connecting to more internship and experiential learning opportunities and career connections. Develop a stronger student engagement strategy to assist in making meaningful career connections between UNL students and employers.
Additionally, will oversee the hiring, training, and development of Student Marketing Assistant/s. Engage Student Marketing Assistants in development of appropriate print, web, and social media promotion materials. Determine tasks and responsibilities for Student Marketing Assistant that provide both learning opportunity and benefit to the marketing efforts of Career Services.
The coordinator may collaborate with the Career Services team to create opportunities for employers to interact with students, student organizations, staff, and faculty across campus. The coordinator may assist in basics of job and employer approvals in vendor supplied job posting tool.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, advertising, event management, or related field and two years' experience in event management, or marketing/advertising/PR, or business, or customer service; equivalent education and experience considered. Candidate will have demonstrated success in event/program management, marketing/advertising. Advanced experience in word processing, spreadsheets, calendaring systems, email, and ability to query and analyze data necessary. Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Nonprofit/government or higher education student service experience preferred.
