Job Description Summary
We seek a research technician with strong background in neuroscience, animal behavior, histology and/or programming in support of a lab studying the neural and homeostatic mechanisms underlying the control of REM sleep using systems neuroscience and computational tools in mice. A successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently following supervision and guidance on lab techniques and safety. Previous experience in basic lab techniques is advantageous, but training will be provided for all duties. This position is an excellent opportunity to develop technical tools and foster critical thinking and analytical skills valuable for a career in research.
Job Description
The Technician will provide lab support including: computational analysis of electrophysiological and behavioral data; maintenance of lab software; performing histological and behavioral experiments with mice; mouse colony management and general lab maintenance. Daily management of laboratory tools to ensure regulatory compliance. He/she will closely collaborate with lab members and the Principal Investigator on projects.
Position is contingent on continued grant funding.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Neurobiology, or a related field with 0-1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Prior laboratory experience, particularly in rodent behavior, strongly preferred.
