RESPONSIBILITIES:

A client with Kforce is seeking a Senior Systems Programmer to join their team for a remote role.

Summary:
The purpose of this assignment is to be the main U.S. POC for a Data Center relocation project. The Systems Programmer Senior will manage technical documentation, will work with vendor partners, diagrams, elevations, managing tickets, working through troubleshooting with Application teams. This is not a client-facing role - will be working back-of-house with Hiring manager and the team.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, database administrators, and application developers, to integrate and support IBM iSeries systems


• Analyze and troubleshoot complex system issues on the IBM iSeries platform, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions


• Participate in the planning, design, and implementation of system upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery strategies on the IBM iSeries platform


• Document system configurations, technical specifications, and procedures for the IBM iSeries environment


• Application Change assessment and validation during change windows over the week and weekend


• Monitors operations to ensure adherence to service level standards and company/department policies and procedures

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience


• 5+ years of experience working with IBM - knows IBM "in and out"


• Knowledge of storage arrays, IBMi stacks, tape libraries, how they interconnect


• Experience with complex administration tasks - very good understanding of iseries infrastructure and how to implement new systems


• Has to have rolled out numerous systems in their experience


• Data center relocation experience is helpful


• Knowledge on network and application designs


• Exposure to creating cabling diagrams


• Attention to detail


• Excellent communicator - ability to discuss technical solutions to internal and external parties and adapt depending on the technical or business focus of the discussion


• Organized approach - manage and adapt priorities according to client and internal requirements


• Self-starter but team mindset - work autonomously and as part of a global team


• Must be online by 10am EST no matter where they sit - the client is flexible with time zones


• Some weekend hours may be required, would be early in the morning, no evenings

Experience with:

• IBM iSeries (AS400) servers


• Basic Windows Server functionalities.


• IBM MQ, Advanced Job Scheduler and/or VIOS


• ServiceNow


• IBM Storage Array


• Configuration of BMRS


• Configuration of IBM Tape Libraries

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
