Position Summary
Responsible for the day-to-day activities of an assigned team of fiber engineers. This team has a dedicated focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining fiber networks and services that are consistent with all defined standard operating processes and procedures. The position will support the Manager of Fiber Engineering and work across other fiber engineering teams within the area, as well as provide support to Crown Castle cross-functional teams to improve the quality of processes, deliverables and the end-to-end customer experience. Each fiber engineering team is expected to maintain open communication across all areas of the business and work as a unit with consistency while designing, implementing, and maintaining services; cognizant of fostering the vision and values of Crown Castle. This position is accountable for their assigned team and area for delivering KPIs including but not limited to OpEx spend, MTTR, % On-Time Install, fiber complete for small cell, and installed enterprise revenue.
Responsibilities
Supervise a team of Fiber Engineers in support of the assigned responsibility for network design, implementation and maintenance
Supervise a team to provide necessary network maintenance support 24 hours, seven days a week, 365 days a year
Schedule and prioritize the workload of the fiber engineering and external vendor resources within an assigned area
Oversee record documentation completed by Fiber Engineers and contract resources associated with Crown Caste’s fiber network infrastructure.
Responsible for team’s fiber asset management associated with the implementation and maintenance of fiber networks and services in area of assigned responsibility and/or work orders
Identify and support training initiatives for team to use Fiber Optic test equipment including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, etc.
Provide support to the Manager of Fiber Engineering in partnerships with utility and municipal providers to streamline permit applications, processes, and new initiatives.
Provide support to the Manager of Fiber Engineering for communication with the NOC, Construction, Field Operations, and Change management teams.
Provide support to the Manager of Fiber Engineering to monitor and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of deliverables and supporting workflows in order to measure operational performance, as well as, identify and assess areas of opportunity for improved process efficiencies and performance
Maintain knowledge of technology in use, and/or under development for its impact or potential impact on the operational business process
Provide support to the Manager of Fiber Engineering for the assigned area(s) respective CAPEX and OPEX spend and budgets
Maintain quality service by understanding and enforcing organization standards
Develop and coach fiber engineering team. Identify training gaps and create a career path for team members.

Candidate has a strong background in and a good working knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure engineering, construction, and restoration methods
Familiarity with Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) installation standards and practices
Network Operations logistics and dispatch management experience in the Telecommunications industry
Ability to diagnose workflow problems and institute remedies
The individual must possess and employ the highest ethical and business standards and always conduct himself/herself with the greatest degree of professional integrity.
Position needs to be able to operate in a fast-paced customer focused environment handling multiple priorities at a time, delivering quality service to diverse user groups and customers
Position must be available for emergency support on a 24-hour X 7 day basis

Education/Certifications
Minimum high school diploma required
BS/BA Degree or equivalent work experience preferred
Experience/Minimum Requirements
1 + years of experience performing (or equivalent work experience)
Direct supervision/management of employees
One (1) to Three (3) or more years of fiber engineering and/or construction management experience with preference to outside and inside plant fiber construction
Fiber engineering design, splicing and/or construction implementation experience
Experience with optical test equipment including OTDR, PMD, Optical Spectrum Analyzer
Experience with GIS mapping tools
Working knowledge of fiber construction standards (aerial and underground)
Working knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards preferred
Organizational Relationship
Reports to: District Manager
Title of direct reports (if applicable): includes but not limited to: Senior Fiber Engineer, Fiber Engineer, Operations Coordinator
Working Conditions: This role falls into our hybrid work model working in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. On Mondays and Fridays, teammates on the hybrid schedule will have the option to work from the office or home. There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
