DESCRIPTION

Become a Roadway Project Manager at Michael Baker International in North Charleston, SC. Join a highly skilled team focused on engineering excellence. Lead and support the design and development of roadway projects, delivering exceptional results. RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Collaborate with a team of engineers on the design and production of highway construction drawings
  • Perform and review project bid documents, including plans, cost estimates, and specifications. Specific tasks include horizontal and vertical geometric design, 3D corridor modeling, and construction cost estimates
  • Act as a Task Lead, communicating key issues and project progress with Project Managers
  • Prepare detailed studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Conduct occasional site visits and report findings to senior engineers and project managers
  • Engage with clients regarding project issues, attend and lead meetings
  • Define scope of work and staff-hour requirements for client proposals
  • Assist Department Managers in meeting project schedules and budgets
  • Contribute to technical aspects of proposal production
  • Ensure all task efforts are within established budgets
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and engineers-in-training
  • Continuously improve knowledge through training initiatives, seminars, and professional publications.
  • Review shop drawings for conformance with Contract Plans
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation software (Geopak or Openroads) and Microsoft Office
  • Experience in roadway design and plans preparation
  • Strong engineering judgment and background in Transportation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, public speaking ability, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead a team in delivering multi-discipline projects with minimal supervision
  • Capability to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks

COMPENSATION

The estimated salary range for this position is $92,000 - $140,000. This salary range is a rough estimate for the position at the time of posting. We are specifically looking for candidates that specializes in design of roadway geometry, roadside protection, ADA, development of contract documents (specifications, plans, cost estimates, etc.), Maintenance and Protection of Traffic, cost/benefit alternative analyses, stakeholder coordination, and technical proposal contributions.
