Job Title: RN Phone Triage Nurse
Location: Cincinnati Children's Primary Care - Northern Kentucky Campuses (Cold Springs, Florence/Union, Southgate)
Position Type: Part-time, 32 hours per week
Schedule:
Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm OR 10:00am - 7:00pm
Cincinnati Children's is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Phone Triage team. The RN will provide telephonic nursing care, assisting families with symptom assessment, care advice, and direction for urgent and routine pediatric medical concerns. This position supports our Northern Kentucky campuses, including Cold Springs, Florence/Union, and Southgate locations, ensuring seamless care and guidance for our pediatric patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct phone triage for pediatric patients, assessing symptoms and providing appropriate care recommendations.
Offer guidance to parents and caregivers based on clinical guidelines and nursing protocols.
Direct patients to appropriate care settings (e.g., urgent care, emergency department, follow-up appointments).
Document all triage interactions and patient concerns accurately in the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Collaborate with primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.
Provide education to families on home care, medication administration, and preventive health practices.
Ensure timely and accurate communication with families and healthcare teams.
Stay up-to-date with clinical guidelines and best practices in pediatric care.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Occasional weekend rotation and coverage as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure in the state of Kentucky.
Minimum of 2 years of pediatric nursing experience, including clinical expertise in pediatric assessment and care.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and compassionate advice over the phone.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Experience with the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Ability to handle sensitive patient information and maintain confidentiality.
Flexibility and ability to work within a rotating schedule that includes weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a phone triage role or telehealth setting.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Pediatric nursing certification (CPN) or other relevant certifications.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Associate/Diploma prepared RNs from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution requires 2+ years of experience. If hired as an external candidate without BSN or MSN, must enroll in a BSN or MSN program within 1 year of hire date and complete program within 5 years of hire date.
BSN from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution or MSN are preferred.
Active Ohio RN License. May be required to obtain other state licensure.
Foreign graduates must have license validated through CGFNS per Ohio Board of Nursing code for Foreign Graduates.
