Basic Job Functions:
The Caster Inspector will be responsible for, ensuring that all the semi-finished product meets our internal dimensional specifications and is tagged properly accounting for the heat number and strand ID, along with chemistry. They will also be responsible for assisting with caster size changes and tundish flies, assisting the Bloomyard Coordinator with inventories and cut-sheets, ensuring that the torch area is kept clean at all times (this includes cleaning the flume on down days), making timely and accurate decisions under pressure to prevent/minimize the production of semi-finished products that are not within specs, and assisting Maintenance during the semi-annual shutdown in the withdrawal and run-out area. The Inspector will communicate with all caster personnel & the LMF operator to make sure all adjustments/ changes are made so that all semi-finished products are within specs. The Caster Inspector will work in an environment with high heat exposure, work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
6 months Melt Shop Operational Experience
