A/P Specialist at Elgin Sweeper

Job Description:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Key vendor invoices into system with a high degree of accuracy and speed. This includes invoices for inventory, utilities, services, check requests, and expense invoices.

  2. Maintain both physical and electronic files for processed invoices.

  3. Research and resolve unvouchered receipts as required.

  4. Analyze/review vendor statements for outstanding invoices and open credits.

  5. Work directly with vendors to resolve vendor inquires.

  6. Proactively partner with Purchasing, Receiving, and other departments to resolve invoice discrepancies.

  7. Assist in the payment process including review of invoices over $10k, processing wire payments at the bank, approving positive pay files, mailing checks, and voiding checks as needed.

  8. Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements


  • High School degree required; Associates degree a plus with some accounting coursework is desired

  • Minimum two years Accounts Payable experience

  • Must have a high degree of accuracy and be detail oriented

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Retain and adhere to a high level of confidentiality

  • Ability to understand and follow internal control procedures

  • Can effectively multi-task and demonstrates strong organizational skills

  • Ability to demonstrate basic accounting skills

  • Daily working knowledge of Excel and comfortable with file uploads

  • Ability to work under pressure; meet deadlines; resolve problems utilizing effective time management

  • Experience working on JD Edwards system a plus
