This Supervisor of Transmission Construction position is responsible for the administration and oversight of Construction Site Coordinators in the FirstEnergyTransmission Construction department, and reports to the Manager, Transmission Construction.
This opportunity is for two positions located in Western, PA.
Responsibilities include:
Fostering a high performing safety culture through personal conduct and utilization of human performance principles.
Confirming direct reports are continuously improving job site safety by conducting periodic site visits, review of field observations, and monitoring adherence to established work coordination and information transfer processes.
Ensuring direct reports are providing the necessary level of engagement in the contractor incident notification process. Working with program safety resources to prepare safety snapshots for high impact incidents.
Coaching direct reports in the proper and timely use of the FirstEnergy TransmissionIssues Database to capture job site efficiency opportunities. Assisting direct reports in the resolution of critical path issues by maintaining open lines of communication with project management and key support organizations.
Ensuring direct reports are adhering to the transmission, distribution, and LTIIP project management lifecycle processes.
Supporting project development by performing constructability reviews.
Conducting preliminary site reviews and gather local expertise feedback on various aspects of the project.
Providing constructability review feedback for projects through initial and detailed engineering plans review.
Proactively identifying potential issues relating to all facets of project construction and safety and offers suitable alternatives to design teams.
Providing input on the cost of construction activities, and that related to access, matting, and other means and methods driven costs, during the development phase of the projects.
Assisting in the formation of construction sequencing documentation for complex projects.
Mentoring direct reports with respect to quality standards, interpretation of quality requirements and other quality control and assurance knowledge.
Documenting project quality outcomes in a format suitable for comparison and analysis.
Ensuring compliance to post energization substation and transmission line inspection processes.
Assisting direct reports in the proper administration of as-built drawings and key project closeout activities.
Ensuring projects are provided the necessary level of support during critical high-risk tasks.
Working with project management and supply chain to ensure bid packages are embedded with the necessary safety and quality expectations.
Coaching direct reports in construction task planning and lean construction methodologies.
Participating in contractor evaluations, project review meetings and meetings concerning "lessons learned."
Leading department continuous improvement initiatives as required.
Continually monitoring the human resource requirements of assigned projects and/or territory and providing necessary level of staffing to maintain job site continuity and integrity of build.
Providing coaching and development to direct reports through the FE Performance Management process.
Qualifications include:
Bachelors' degree with 6 years of relevant experience is preferred based on demonstrated performance. Consideration may be given to applicants having a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree.
Relevant work experience includes, but is not limited to:
Knowledge in the construction field; substantial portion of the experience must be in substation and line construction.
Knowledge in the FirstEnergy's information systems related to construction activities.
Knowledge of clearance and switching procedures to remove and restore lines and electrical equipment.
Knowledge of FirstEnergy's Contractor Safety practices and procedures.
