To design and execute major capital projects in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner and to play a key role in facilitating process improvement and cost reduction initiatives consistent with HSE principles
Essential Functions
Reports To: (position) Engineering Manager
Execute chemical plant capital projects, including maintenance & replacement, process upgrades and safety improvement projects.
Manage projects within scope/budget/timeline while maintaining a high standard for safety.
Review/critique the cost, technical and manufacturing impact for feasibility analyses for potential new products/processes/projects.
Ability to effectively interact with a variety of suppliers and contractors to obtain estimates, coordinate construction schedules and complete projects without safety incidents.
Define projects based on site productivity targets incl. implementing solutions that achieve significant cost reduction.
Provide chemical process engineering and other engineering support for manufacturing.
Participate on cross functional site improvement teams.
Coordinate with individuals who have responsibility for the design, installation and improvement of manufacturing processes.
Interface with equipment manufacturers and site technical teams.
Develop operational specifications for the process; conduct hazard reviews and other related PSM activities.
Education Qualifications
Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
Experience Qualifications
Required 3+ years experience in the chemical manufacturing industry required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
Project engineering experience, including implementation of capital project required; process engineering experience a plus.
Good verbal and written communications skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving ability.
Demonstrated ability to manage large and small capital projects from inception to implementation.
Self-starter with an ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
Knowledge of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is necessary.
Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Project, Microstation and ChemCad process modeling software a plus.
