Job Purpose



During the Graduate Engineering Rotational Program, participants will receive on-the-job training and gain additional work experience through cross-functional assignments, mentoring, assessments, career planning, and networking. Upon completion of the program, based on readiness and performance, participants will be assigned a role as determined by the leadership team.



Rotational Cycle



The Graduate Rotational Program is a total of twenty-seven (27) months. The program will be broken into three (3) rotational cycles. Each rotational cycle will last nine (9) months and will be based at AkzoNobel's Research and Development facilities.




  • Rotation Locations May Include: Nashville, Tennessee; Houston, Texas; Reading, Pennsylvania; Warsaw, Indiana; Lancaster, South Carolina; Waukegan, Illinois; Pontiac, Michigan; Columbus, Ohio; Huron, Ohio; High Point, North Carolina


  • Relocation: Relocation assistance will be provided per AkzoNobel policy.




Job Responsibilities





  • Delivers key projects to meet a range of business needs which includes defining requirements, preparing plans, allocating resources and project implementation in alignment with project management methods and techniques.

  • Uses data analysis and other problem-solving methodologies to maximize plant and equipment effectiveness to achieve optimum life cycle cost of production equipment.

  • Actively participates in continuous improvement projects and identifies improvement opportunities to improve plant overall equipment effectiveness and rate increases.

  • For capital projects, will execute process studies, contribute to pre-projects, and perform initial project scoping and business case development. Will then submit to project group for execution with the exception of minor projects less than $500k.

  • Prepares, schedules, coordinates, and monitors assigned engineering projects.
    Tracks and controls project budgets and timelines to ensure project completion with the designated timeline.

  • Develops skills in leadership, data analysis, and project management.




Job Requirements





  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or related field.

  • Demonstrated research, coursework and/or internships supporting academic excellence and teamwork.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills through roles that carry responsibility and accountability.

  • Effective project management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.

  • Ability to travel domestically to interface with employees at various AkzoNobel locations.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel.




Rewards and Benefits



The annual salary for this position is $75,000.00. The position is eligible for an annual bonus, relocation assistance, and employee benefits that are effective the first day of employment. Also eligible to participate in AkzoNobel's amazing employee discount program.
