Performs a wide variety of carpentry, masonry, asphalt, painting, roof repair, plumbing, and pipe fitting duties to repair/maintain plant buildings and corporate offices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
List what the person must do to perform the job to meet standards.
Sets up and operate various carpenter tools, such as table saws, skill saws, hammers, nail guns & wrenches, to build, construct and repair a variety of wood structures and items such as work benches, shelves, ramps, cabinets, stairs, partitions, etc.
Carries lumber, plywood (sheets up to 4 X 8), etc to the various work locations
Uses sander to sand wood with exposure to dust & paint fumes
Patches and repairs asphalt and masonry; pours concrete, and makes minor repairs
Cuts and replaces broken glass; glazes windows, caulks and plugs openings
Paints structures, (walls, floors, ceilings) as required on a ladder or scissor lift
Moves, builds and erects ladders, staging, containers etc.
Clean gutters and repair roof leaks as required
Works in the elements all year and assists with snow removal when necessary.
Repairs and installs doors, windows, locks, ceiling panels etc
Replaces light bulbs/ballasts in office and factory areas.
Maintains required work material, inventory and/or repair records
Detects defective and unsafe equipment and material as well as unusual situations and reports them to the supervisor
Observes and obeys all safety rules, practices and procedures
Wears and employs all safety equipment and items
Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner
Performs other similar or related duties as required or requested
Position Requirements:
The Facilities Maintenance Tech must possess the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
High School graduate or GED preferred
Ability to bend, reach, stretch, lift, twist, and kneel as needed
Ability to work over head for long periods of time
Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds when required
Must be able to use step ladders, extension ladders and lifts
